Is Government in Health Care the Problem in the U.S.?

If government involvement in health care is a problem and drives up costs, we assume that would be obvious when looking at other governments and their role in health care. Healthcare Reform Realities

The latest polls on the new 2010 healthcare reform law show that 42% of Americans say they have a generally favorable view and 41% have a generally unfavorable view of it.  More interestingly, when asked ten questions regarding what the plan entails, most responders got only 5 of 10 correct, with 36% of responders getting 4 or less questions correct. As examples of the greatest misperceptions, “six in ten think the law creates a government run health plan, which it does not.  And roughly two in three think that all businesses—even the smallest—will be required to provide health insurance, when in fact businesses with fewer than 50 employees are exempt from this requirement.” Quoted from The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) from the same link.

The Coffee Party has summarized the Health Care Reform changes that went into effect in 2010 and 2011 on two pages! Click here.

Did you also know that part of the plan’s 2011 change is the government payments to Medicare Advantage will decrease from $1.14 to $1.00 for every $1 of service they provide.  This figure will constitute a large part of the savings to taxpayers of the $143 billion estimated by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) over ten years.
